" Ride?!! "

There is not much of anything that our little man likes more than riding and driving. He absolutely LOVES to be behind the steering wheel and he can't even reach the gas pedal! Today, John needed to fuel up the loader to get it ready for next week, so we rode with him. John Luke was asleep when we got to the dirt pit but I woke him up because I knew he would want to "ride". {He says ride over and over when he sees a truck, piece of equipment, the Ranger, lawnmower, anything he can ride.} He had such a good time driving around the dirt pit. As you will see, he did NOT want to leave!

Just a Simple, Fun Day

Don't you love days when you get to just relax and enjoy your family? I do, and thankfully today was one of those days. John went to work early this morning for a couple of hours so when John Luke woke up I made us some breakfast and we played for a while. Then he took his morning nap and I DID TOO! It was lovely! When John came home around lunch, we ate sandwiches and then rode the Ranger all over Carolina. Of course John Luke was in heaven. The weather wasn't too bad as long as we were moving and every once in a while there was a nice breeze. When we got back home, John Luke played in the water hose and chased me and John around trying to wet us. We took showers and decided we would go eat at Beef O' Brady's since it was early and maybe there wouldn't be such a long wait. So we did and there was not a wait and the food was actually really good. I got a club wrap and fries and it was delicious. Another bonus was we got to see some of the Auburn game... War Eagle! When we got home we got in our pj's and played some more with our sweet man. He is now in the bed and I am headed that way myself. Couldn't get any better than that! {At least not in my opinion; we are some homebodies!} So, I am off to bed. These are some pictures I took today. Just thought I'd share. Good Night!

This is his new favorite face.

This pose reminds me of those silly birds on The Little Mermaid. The ones that are sitting on top of the post. I used to love that movie!

"Would you like some of your drink, Mama?" "I have pretty much gulped it all down!"

What a BIG BOY!~

What Has Happened To My Mama?

Strawberry Yogurt plus chocolate brownie mix...

Equals a very dirty but HAPPY little boy!

Well, this may seem like nothing to some or even most of you, but for me it is HUGE! I have a very hard time "letting go" and just having fun no matter how messy it might be. I was thinking today that I needed to be honest with myself and admit that a lot of days I have my priorities out of order when it comes to the simple daily routines of life. What I mean by this is I truly have a difficult time being creative and "stepping outside the box". I always want everything to be clean and in order. I am WAY TOO structured! The sad thing is John Luke is the one suffering from all this madness!!! I talk about how quickly he is growing up, but I fail to take advantage of every day God gives me with him. God has blessed me with a precious child. He really is. He is sweet. He is easy to take care of. He entertains himself so well. He is just a good baby. I know there is nothing wrong with being clean and organized but I am OCD! I was talking to my sweet friend Ashley today, and I think it all just became so apparent to me as I was talking to her. She is so good about "playing" and having fun and I need so badly to do more of that. I guess this post is just me talking to myself. {And I wanted to have proof that I actually did allow John Luke to have fun and make a mess!} As of today, I am making it a priority to stop and PLAY! This is going to take time and lots of prayer but I hope that one day my children will remember me as a mama that enjoyed life and not as Mrs. Clean Freak! This is probably nothing for most of you mamas, but it is one GIANT step for this mama!! Have a wonderful night!

A Rooster Tail and Off to Work We Go...

This is John Luke's usual morning look. John wakes up every morning with this same exact hairstyle. It is amazing how much they look alike in the mornings!

John had gone outside to do something right before he left for work, and when I walked around the corner to find John Luke he had put John's boots on. I guess he was making sure he was ready to go with daddy. Before long, it is going to be very difficult for John to leave for work without John Luke because he already cries EVERY morning to go with his daddy!

Watching the Rain

I thought this was cute. We were sitting at the window talking about how it was raining and we couldn't go outside. Then John Luke reached over and grabbed the blinds to get a better look. He doesn't care for the rain because it hinders him from getting to go outside and play, but I sometimes enjoy just sitting and watching it rain. It's relaxing. One thing John and I look forward to about having a house is being able to sit on the porch {with our glass of sweet tea as John would say} and watch the rain. Oh, the simple pleasures of life!

The monitor is the phone at this moment. He is saying "Hello".

Buckmasters {Not For Me!}

I had my first experience at Buckmasters on Saturday. I can't say that it was the most enjoyable thing I've ever done. I thought I was going to be a sweet wife and try to enjoy something that my husband enjoys... well I think I'll choose something else from now on and let Buckmasters be a "male bonding day"! I don't necessarily consider myself a "girlie girl" but believe me, I was the "girliest girl" I saw there!!! I was definitely out of place!!! I will say they did have some pretty interesting stuff and some gigantic deer! Basically, I spent most of the time entertaining John Luke with the Rhino and 4-Wheelers because there was no possible way to push a stroller around in that crowd! Oh well, I tried. Next year it's all yours honey!!
These are some pictures of John Luke "driving" the Rhino and the 4-wheeler.

And I had to throw this one in... I LOVE THIS FACE!!!

After a million shots...

I finally got a few pictures that might work! Well, here's the deal... I have been working on changing my blog for weeks but I just can't get it like I want it. I looked into having one designed but I decided that it would be a waste of money since our family will be changing and growing, and I like to have a change of scenery often. But I do love all the headers that you all have with the cute pictures of your children but I have one small problem. His name is John Luke! My child does NOT want me to have a cute picture of him! He runs in the opposite direction, or looks the other way right as I snap the picture, or gives me a big frown to let me know he doesn't like this picture taking business, or is just too plain busy to stop and let me get a good one. He has no sympathy for his mama who after an hour is practically in tears begging for a decent picture! Not just for this blog, but to have a good picture of my growing little boy! So anyway, here it is. I downloaded all the other ones so I just put them on here too. To all you who have "models", be thankful for their cooperation!!

Last night John Luke got to play with his cousin Caleb. They were home for a wedding so we went over for a short visit. The boys are about the same height but Caleb outweighs John Luke by about 5 lbs. Maybe that's because he likes to eat and John Luke could careless if he ever ate! We had a good time watching them play together and show us all their tricks.

I sure do miss these two...

A LOT!!! Me and John Luke went to Enterprise today and got to visit with our old friends Ashley and Sawyer. I guess I shouldn't call them "old" friends since we still are friends we just don't get to see them nearly as much as we used to. And that's a BUMMER because we sure do love em'! I just wish they could have stayed around here but at least Enterprise isn't too far away. We had a wonderful time {as usual} and we are looking forward to the next visit!
I took some cute pictures {except that I never can remember to turn on the red-eye reduction} but anyway I couldn't pick which ones to put on here so I decided I'd just make a slideshow. We Love Y'all!

Another Birthday?

Oh Yes! Today is Aunt Amy's birthday! She is 22 years old! Unbelieveable! I sometimes still think of her as that little girl with those big long eyelashes that looked like spider legs, that went around everywhere in her tap shoes and too-too saying "Look at me, Daddy!" She still has those outrageous eyelashes and she still likes to be the center of attention! And believe me, she starts reminding you of her birthday on the 1st day of August and keeps celebrating until the last day of August! So, today we want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNT AMY! WE LOVE YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Birthday Celebration

Saturday we celebrated Papa Will's 88th birthday! All of Papa and Granny's family got together at Wayland and Sue's house for lunch. And boy did we have some good southern home cookin'! My favorite!! I was able to get a few pictures of John Luke with Papa and Granny. Not an easy task with a 15 month old going on full blast at ALL times! Happy Birthday Papa!

John Luke with his Grammie

Friday, August 8, 2008

This week, John and I have really realized just how much John Luke is growing. It seems like yesterday I was in the hospital {for the 2nd time, and after 22 hours of labor, with two unsuccessful epidurals}, praying that God would PLEASE remove this child from my body! At that time I would never have imagined I could ever get to the point that I could say I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I guess that's one of the amazing things God designed in a mother. I truly know what unconditional love is now. I would do it over everyday from here on out to have this precious little man God has blessed us with.
So...anyway, I wanted to share some most recent pictures of our RAPIDLY growing sweet man!
