Update on John

John and I just finished reading all of your precious comments, and we absolutely CANNOT explain to you all how grateful we are for your prayers! Just reading those comments brought us to tears! We love y'all and thank you more than words can express!!! We have definitely felt the presence of God today!

Last night we headed to Dothan with the plans of seeing the doctor this morning and having surgery scheduled for a later day. Well, God had other plans! John's mom got the doctor's e-mail address and explained the situation to him through e-mail. Within 10 MINUTES he had called her back and said he and his associate would work together to get John seen about first thing this morning and do surgery soon after!!!!!!!!!! WOW!!! An answer to prayer right there! We thank the Lord for Dr. Nesbitt and his willingness to help us! We absolutely loved his associate Dr. Byard as well! We had total peace with these two men as doctors and people! Another answered prayer!!!! So, we went on over to Dothan to spent the night so we wouldn't be in a rush.
We saw Dr. Byard around 8:00 this morning and he explained to us what kind of tumor it was and how the surgery would be done. It is a nonseminoma tumor. There are two different kinds of tumors. Seminoma and Nonseminoma. There are several differences, but mainly the treatments will differ. Depending on the CT Scan. We don't know the stage or any more than that right now. Dr. Byard was very comforting to us and we were so thankful for his compassion. He sent John to have a chest x-ray, and it came back CLEAR!!! Praise the Lord! What a joy and relief to hear those words! Around 1:00John was taken into surgery. Dr. Nesbitt said the surgery went well. About 4:00 John had a CT Scan. We don't know any of the results from that yet. He said we could hear tomorrow or the next day. This is a very important hurdle. The CT scan will tell us if the cancer has spread to any other parts of his body or any lymphnodes. We pray that it was confined to the one spot! But, we know that whatever the results, God is in control!!!
PLEASE continue to pray for healing! John is doing well from the surgery right now, but I'm sure in the next couple of days he will be very sore. We just ask that y'all keep praying for us! Thank you again for ALL your calls and prayers!

Thank you Ashley for coming to see us! I was so glad to see your sweet face! And I KNOW John Luke had a blast playing with his friends Sawyer and Eli! Thank you! Also thank you to Bro. Matt and Garrett for sticking it out with us all day! You both have been such a blessing! And thank you to all our family members! We Love Y'all!

"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD." Psalms 27:14

"Be still and KNOW that I am GOD..." Psalms 46:10

John & Beth,
The Lord is doing mighty things already!!! We are praying specifically that the cancer has not spread. Your display of faith is incredible. I have to share this verse with you that is still one of my favorites:

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. Psalm 30:5

We love you and are constantly praying,

I am inspired by your faith and peace. I have always found God to be faithful just as His word says He is. I will continue to pray for your whole family, especially John. I'm sure the results of the CT will seem like an eternity to get, but hopefully there will be good results.

Y'all sure are WELL LOVED people! I know why, but through Facebook and emails-I've already seen so much concern for your sweet family, and I know we're all praying! That was a sweet post, and your faith shines through! I'm so glad so many prayers have been answered. We do serve a mighty God! I've been thinking about that song, "through the good times and bad-you are on your throne-you are God alone. Unchangeable, unshakeable, unstoppable. That's what you are!" :) Love y'all!

I feel like all this praying has helped me to come closer to the lord. It has brought us all a little closer together. It is amazing how blogging together can make you closer to someone. I have known you for a very long time and you have always been very sweet. I feel like now I have a better understanding of who you are and it is wonderful to know how strong your faith is in the lord! John is very blessed to have you as a wife and bestfriend! I admire the courage and strenght you have shown! You are an inspiration to me!

I praise God that He is already at work in this situation - with John being scheduled for surgery so quickly, and for the clear lung scan! I pray for a quick report on the CT scan and that the results will be clear, as well.

In your time of hurt - your strength and faith as not only a Wife and Mother, but as a Sister in Christ INSPIRES me! God is and will continue to use this trial to accomplish great things.

And although we don't know one another outside of "Blog Land" - MANY prayer warriors in North Alabama are lifting up your names in prayer! I pray that God's hands will be upon each and every doctor and nurse you come in contact with and that His grace and comfort will fill your heart and soul.

Beth and John,
So glad ya'll are home. So happy to hear the good news about John's chest xray! Doesn't it feel great knowing so many people love ya'll and are praying for ya'll? I hope John feels better soon. I know this should go without saying, but if we can do ANYTHING at all, please don't hesitate to ask! We love you and your family very much and are praying daily for ya'll and especially for John's healing. Love, Kim and Todd Killough

Praise the Lord! I know you are still waiting further results, but God is in control and everything will be fine!! I truly believe that. Beth, I don't know if you remember me or not. We worked together for a short time at AMS, and I know John through my husband, Jason Castleberry, John's close friend Troy Appleyard. Your strength is inspirational!

Beth, I work with Cheryl Cotton at PowerSouth. My husband was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma in 2007, but he's been in remission since March 2008. I remember how I felt those first few days after the diagnosis--every emotion possible! I'm so glad to see that y'all are putting your trust in God. I pray He'll make this a time to draw you closer to him and closer to each other than you've ever been. Even though the situations are a little different, I'd be glad to help with any advice I can. My e-mail is bethanylynn_@hotmail.com, and my blog address is http://theakridges.blogspot.com, so please feel free to give me a holler.

Beth- I'm a friend of Ashley Williams and used to live in Andalusia when I was little. She told me about your situation and I just wanted to let you know you're NOT ALONE! I went through the same thing with my husband this summer. Same cancer, same treatment, pregnant and everything. Please email me if you want to lindsaycarreker@mac.com. I would love to share our story with you but it's too long for the comments section ;o)

I have been and will continue to pray. I'm so glad to hear that you are getting good, fast treatment and that so far things are going well.

"Meanwhile the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our ever changing condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good." -- Romans 8 (The Message)
