I've not always been a bargain shopper, but I guess when the money started coming out of my pocket and not daddy's, things changed;) Actually I have found that I really enjoy love to find a deal! Especially when it comes to house 'stuff'. Change, change, change for only some change;) I love it!
So here are some of my sweet little finds:::
I've been looking for a "new" kitchen table. I thought I wanted a round one, but after studying the space I have decided a rectangular one will fit well. I like the convenience of the round style, but I needed more seating. My future plan is to build a bench across the back wall. The round would still be fantastic but in order to get one big enough to accommodate more seating I would have to get one too big for the space.
So......the best part of this story is I sold my old table and found one to replace it all within 24 hours! I listed it on Facebook through Enterprise Alabama-Buy, Sell, and Trade and had a buyer within 3 hours! Amazing! It gets better.....the next day, I stopped in at one of my favorite "junk stores" and just as I walked in the door, there it was! A table with 6 chairs, the exact shape, size and color I wanted!!! And.....I talked her into selling it to me for the same price I had sold my old one:))
Now I'm on the bargain hunt for a rug to go under, maybe replace the two end chairs with parsons chairs, recover the seats and we're all set.
While I was there I had to browse a little. And around the corner I found this....
My plans for him were to be painted black, add a seat cushion and sit him at the end of my bed. Now that he's here, I'm debating on using him in the laundry room, playroom, or one of the kid's rooms.
For now, he's used as a fantastic hiding spot....
This....
and this....
were both found at the same "junk store" on other trips.
This old guy was found there as well......
When I bought him the plans were to recover. He has grown on me as is.
This dude was found at a childrens clothing/home consignment sale. It was heaven! Children's clothes for a bargain and home decor all in one! Makes my heart sing:)
This sweet little lamp was also found at the consignment sale......
and this bookshelf....
Do you know what is even better than a bargain? A gift:) And I have some pretty generous friends and family.
My dear friend who loves "old junk" and great deals as much as I do, gave me this precious little desk.
There's a story behind this desk. The top part was once built to be a bread box. Then she added the legs to it. She was ready to get rid of it and passed it along to me.
It's the perfect size to fit in the kitchen for a precious little boy....and girl.
The desk chair was also a "junk store" find.
These two book shelves were given to me by my sweet neighbor. We put a few coates of black paint, and Wa-lah....perfect.
You can never have too many bookshelves or lamps. That's my philosophy.
This chest-of-drawers was John's when he was a child. After a quick paint job, it's been mighty handy to have around.
The vase on top was a consignment sale find. The picture above it was found at a "junk store."
This bed has a twin but we haven't moved it in just yet. They were given to me by my grandmother and belonged to my great aunt and uncle. A fresh coat of paint made all the difference.
When Miss Priss moves out of her baby bed, we'll move in the match. I predict lots of nights with big brother in one and sister in the other:)
The canvas paintings were done by my talented and precious friend. Aren't they perfect?
This iron table and chairs were also a gift from the same friend who gave me the "bread box desk". She's the best!
All we need now is some grass!
He definitely was not found at the "junk store" but he is a gift. A precious gift from my Jesus!
Do y'all love a bargain as much as me?
