What Has Happened To My Mama?

Strawberry Yogurt plus chocolate brownie mix...

Equals a very dirty but HAPPY little boy!

Well, this may seem like nothing to some or even most of you, but for me it is HUGE! I have a very hard time "letting go" and just having fun no matter how messy it might be. I was thinking today that I needed to be honest with myself and admit that a lot of days I have my priorities out of order when it comes to the simple daily routines of life. What I mean by this is I truly have a difficult time being creative and "stepping outside the box". I always want everything to be clean and in order. I am WAY TOO structured! The sad thing is John Luke is the one suffering from all this madness!!! I talk about how quickly he is growing up, but I fail to take advantage of every day God gives me with him. God has blessed me with a precious child. He really is. He is sweet. He is easy to take care of. He entertains himself so well. He is just a good baby. I know there is nothing wrong with being clean and organized but I am OCD! I was talking to my sweet friend Ashley today, and I think it all just became so apparent to me as I was talking to her. She is so good about "playing" and having fun and I need so badly to do more of that. I guess this post is just me talking to myself. {And I wanted to have proof that I actually did allow John Luke to have fun and make a mess!} As of today, I am making it a priority to stop and PLAY! This is going to take time and lots of prayer but I hope that one day my children will remember me as a mama that enjoyed life and not as Mrs. Clean Freak! This is probably nothing for most of you mamas, but it is one GIANT step for this mama!! Have a wonderful night!

Mmmm...that yogurt/brownie combo looks yummy. Might have to try it! He is so cute. Looks like Kady when you leave her alone with a cookie!

Beth,
He will always remember and love his mama regardless!!! I will definitely say a prayer for you if that is what you want!!! You are still a terrific mom!! He is also being taught how to keep a clean house/area and there isn't anything wrong with that at all!!!
Love you!!!!
P.S. Saturday doesn't look like a good day for you to bring us food after all. SORRY!! It is the start of FOOTBALL season and Jeremy is planning on wearing the "apron" and doing a little tailgating here at the house! We would love any other day that you have in mind! However, you are still welcome to come by if you can stand putting up with us BAMA fans! ;)

I need you at my house! I'm completely the opposite. My house is a mess more often than it is clean. I just don't have the energy to keep it spotless with two kids running around!

Caroline and I have been "letting loose" for quite a while now. We play whatever, whenever and then I pick up during her nap and when she goes to bed. It feels pretty great to just enjoy what I have been given!!!

Beth...you have no idea. I know I'm not a mama yet, but I have a feeling I should go ahead and start praying that I will be able to play with my kids because I am Mrs. Clean Freak!

Ok that looks disgusting!!!! Glad to see you are trying to calm down a little though. You have always made fun of me and my many junk piles and drawers. As John Luke gets older he's only going to get messier so its best if you just accept it now!

Girl,
John Luke is a lucky little boy to have you! I'm glad y'all had a fun day! Love you!
(Now...I just need you to rub off on me the same way!!! I'm trying to do better too!)

If you were at my house right now you would probably go into cardiac arrest. Little Audrey has thrown us for a loop in regards to keeping the house picked up. I've not cared much about anything except for feeding and sleeping though. Thank goodness for our family members who have been here to clean up! It looks like you had a good time playing-- plus you played with the water hose in your other post. I think that is HUGE-- absolutely no structure involved in that!! It even required a shower!

Great post. It took me several years so come to this realization - so hats off to you. I figure I can keep the house clean when my son is off at college. And then, I'll miss each and every mess he made as he grew up.

Love your blog. Your son is adorable!
